Tom Randa is a professional early career researcher with about five years research experience and currently working as a Research Assistant to the Development Corridors Partnership Project in Kenya, hosted by the Institute of Climate Change Adaptation, University of Nairobi. Randa also works as a Research Fellow under the Climate Resilient Economies program at the African Centre for Technology Studies, and a founding member of the African Research and Impact Network. His areas of interest and expertise encompasses Risk and vulnerability assessment, water resources management, climate change adaptation, mitigation, impact assessment, modelling and sustainable development.
Randa has a strong theoretical and technical background in Meteorology, climate science, risk mapping and assessment, vulnerability studies and disaster risk management. He has practical, analytical research, mapping and modelling skills to apply in the design, implementation and accomplishment of different project tasks. He has contributed to various peer reviewed publications including Working papers, journal articles, book chapters and policy briefs. Randa is an MSc in Climate Change student in the University of Nairobi (Kenya) and holds a BSc Meteorology from the same institution. His research work focuses on assessing the impacts of climate change on water resources in the development corridors of Ewaso Ngiro Basin in Kenya. He has been further trained on GIS and Remote sensing applications, Modelling techniques, Research Methods, Data analysis techniques, programming and server configurations for digital data collection and management environmental impact assessment, scientific communication and publications.
